FAQ

What is Chessle?

Chessle is a daily chess opening guessing game inspired by Wordle.

Do I need a chess account to play?

No. You can play directly in your browser.

What do the colors mean?

Green means the move is correct in that position, yellow means the move appears elsewhere in the answer, and grey means the move is not in the answer.

Does Chessle check my guess on a server?

No. Guesses are validated locally in your browser, while optional cloud services can still be used for puzzle delivery or statistics.

How is this modern version different from the original Chessle site?

This version keeps the original Chessle gameplay, but uses a modern Vite build, local browser validation, JSON-based i18n, static SEO pages for English and German, inline SVG icons, and a native chessboard instead of the original jQuery and chessboard.js setup.
